The Montgomery Fire Department / Montgomery County ESD #2 covers approximately 232 square miles of the northwest corner of Montgomery County, located 15 miles west of Conroe and 50 miles northwest of Houston.  Our department covers the City of Montgomery, Dobbin, and the surrounding communities of Walden, Bentwater and the Montgomery Area.

Montgomery Fire Department is composed of dedicated professional firefighters committed to the highest level of service to our community.  Our staff provides Fire Prevention, Fire Protection, Rescue and First Responder services, along with Public Education. 

In February of 1969, the Montgomery Fire Department established it's first station in the town of Montgomery.  During that time the department consisted of local residents of the area volunteering their time and services to the community.  In 1982 with the area steadily growing, the volunteers of Montgomery Fire Department, along with the residents of Walden (which made up the Walden Volunteer Fire Department) merged into one taking the name of the Montgomery Fire Department.  In the years to come, from 1982 to 1984 stations were built in Walden, Cape Conroe and the City of Dobbin.  With the continued growth and new communities being built the fifth station of Montgomery Fire Department was constructed in 1996 to cover the Bentwater and surrounding 1097 area.  In the fall of 2006, with the increasing of personnel our new Station 51 was built in the city limits of Montgomery, which today is home to our administration offices along with our full time crews.

Not only did we build stations to keep up with the growth of the area, in 1989 Montgomery Fire Department hired it first full time firefighter.  Throughout the years, we continued to add other full time 24 hour personnel to our department.  In 2001, we started to man our Station 55 in the Bentwater area with on duty personnel along with our volunteers.  In 2002, we increased our manning of stations to include Station 54. In December 2013, we added a fourth station in the Dobbin area.  Today, we currently man five stations with full time and part time personnel.  We have a staff of a Fire Chief, 4 Battalion Chiefs, 78 Full time Firefighters, and approximately 10 Part time Firefighters.  Every year, we continue to make improvements and additions to our staffing.

Along with our improvements to our staffing, we continue to upgrade our apparatus and equipment within our department.
